Supported lights, sensors, thermostat routines, presence behavior, and door or window checks run on the server in the home without a required Tara subscription.

Local app handoff

The main household app connects to the local system. A vendor account is not made the owner of every routine simply because one device offers a cloud app.

Local camera planning

The camera kit can be designed around local recording and review. Storage size, recording mode, retention days, and model-specific detection are confirmed before purchase.

Internet-outage behavior

Local routines can continue when the internet is unavailable, as long as the home has power and the local network, server, radios, and selected devices are working.

Optional costs

No required subscription does not mean every outside service is free.

Cloud conveniences
